Markus Golden, an outside linebacker for the Arizona Cardinals, is the team’s top pass rusher in 2022.
The linebacker is coming off a season in which he led the team with 11 sacks and arguably has the most drive on the squad.
And he is doing so inexpensively.
Brad Spielberger of Pro Football Focus ranked Golden’s two-year, $5 million contract as the fifteenth best prior to the upcoming season.
Golden is currently in his second stint with the Cardinals after being drafted in 2015.
Golden signed with the New York Giants prior to the 2019 season before being traded back to the Arizona Cardinals in 2020 when pass rusher Chandler Jones was lost for the season due to a biceps injury.
During his reunion tour, Golden recorded 4.5 sacks in nine games, followed by 11 last season. During his last 25 games in the desert, he recorded 33 quarterback hits.
Golden will serve as the team’s pass-rushing anchor during the upcoming season, with Dennis Gardeck, Cameron Thomas, and Myjai Sanders competing for starting positions.
