PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – On Tuesday afternoon in Cordes Lakes, a Yavapai County deputy was fatally shot by a suspect, according to official confirmation. Police say the suspect has been apprehended following an hours-long standoff. The YCSO has confirmed that the deputy passed away surrounded by his family.
Dozens of law enforcement officers honored the deputy at the HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center in Phoenix. A procession began at 8 p.m. to transport the deputy’s body to the medical examiner’s office in downtown Phoenix, with motorcycles and patrol cars lined up outside the emergency room entrance of the hospital. Several individuals were observed demonstrating their support for the deputy, with one individual carrying a sign that read “I love police.”
