According to Phoenix police, a homeowner shot and killed two intruders on the morning of June 25.
At approximately 7:45 a.m., officers responded to 911 calls from the vicinity of 27th Street and McDowell Road. Sgt. Philip Krynsky reports that upon arrival, they discovered two shot men lying on the ground in front of the residence.
“According to witnesses, the shooter was inside the residence next to where the victims were lying,” Krynsky explained. “Officers devised a strategy to ascend on foot and transport the men to safety. The officers were able to transport the men to the waiting paramedics. The officers were able to communicate with and peacefully detain the three occupants of the residence. Both men were transported to separate hospitals, where they died of their injuries.”
The men were in their twenties and remain unidentified.
Krynsky claims that during the investigation, those detained in connection with the shooting gave consistent accounts of self-defense.
Krynsky stated, “The suspects were released after consultation with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, and charges will be submitted for review.”
