PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — Monday evening, in response to a domestic violence call, an officer shot an armed man at an apartment complex in Phoenix, according to police. According to Phoenix police Sgt. Philip Krynsky, the shooting occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. in a complex near 52nd Street and Thomas Road.
Officers reportedly observed a man with a gun standing on the second-floor landing and ordered him to drop the weapon. According to Krynsky, an officer then shot the man, who then fled and hid in an apartment with a woman and two children. Officers then proceeded to the second floor and began urging the individual to exit. According to Krynsky, the man eventually emerged from the apartment and was apprehended by police. When officers discovered that the man had been shot, he was transported to the hospital in critical condition. According to police, the woman, children, and officers were not injured.
